For the last 43-years, Earl Durden has been a familiar face in the area ... Constructing signs and ideas for companies all over the Wiregrass. His company created signs ... Sure to bring in customers to a business. This event not only marked the celebration and recognition of Durden, but also was held in a new facility that also showed respect to Durden's career path. “This night is also special because it is the opening of the Durden outdoor history museum, their sign museum, and so we're very proud to be able to present this award to Mr. Durden.” AAF Dothan president Mike Riddle said. “Oh gosh, this is overwhelming. You know, to be in the same sentence as some of the folks that have been the recipient of this award in the past. It's just very humbling.” Award Recipient Earl Durden said. ____________________________________________________________________________________
Announcement was made that Shelby Green (pictured above) and Lauren Barnard were awarded the two AAF-Dothan Scholarships at the August meeting. On hand for the presentation was Shelby. Barnard was unable to attend. AAF-Dothan awarded two $3,000 scholarships. To qualify, students should be pursuing careers in the fields of Marketing, Advertising, Journalism (print or broadcast), Public Relations, or Graphic Design.
____________________________________________________________________________________ Rising Star awarded to Christy Elmore Christine Elmore, Communications Director for the Dothan Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), has been named the 2010 Rising Star by the Alabama Tourism Department. The award was presented at a black-tie ceremony Tuesday, August 17, at the Renaissance Hotel and Spa in Montgomery. Christy is AAF-Dothan's vice president. Read full article.
____________________________________________________________________________________ Gene Ragan honored with 2010 Advertising Pioneer Award
Gene Ragan, founder of the Gene Ragan Farm Show, was awarded the Advertising Pioneer Award by the American Advertising Federation of Dothan (AAF-Dothan) at a luncheon on August 4. Over fifty family, friends and colleagues attended the gala to honor Ragan for his contributions to the advertising and broadcasting industry for over forty years.
