Chris Gilbert, a local bulder and organizer of the Toadlick Music Festival planned for March 22-24, visited Ad Club on Feb. 1 to explain how Toadlick got its name and different aspects of the event.

Gilbert said Toadlick plans to become the dominant country music festival in our community, one that is held in high regard, offers value to its participants, and impacts positively the local and surrounding communities.

"It's a family effort," Chris explained. "We had been discussing names for the festival and were sitting around trying to come up with the perfect name. We wanted it to be memorable, unique, and fun. All kinds of names were popping up when one young lady hollered 'Toadlick'. We liked it, and that was the name."

The toad in the logo was designed by Jennifer Kilgour of Glasgow, United Kingdom. They wanted an image that represented a bit of attitude, a mix of fun, and just an outright cool dude. A Facebook contest was held to name the frog, and Michelle Mathis Mobley won. The Toad's name is now Twiggy.

Marketing for the Festival began many months ago, with a big push at the National Peanut Festival in November. With their blog, website, Facebook page and a Toadlick RV -- and the line-up of stars is impressive with more to come. Check them out at Toadlick Music Festival.

MS Walk March 17 at Heritage Park

Eric Powers (left), a student at Wicksburg High, visited AAF-Dothan to inform the group of the MS (Multiple Sclerosis) Walk to be held Saturday, March 17, from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Heritage Park, Dothan. This will be the first year for the Dothan Walk MS. Ad Club President Mike Riddle (right) won the first "footprint" to be signed and displayed at the walk. Powers said sponsors and teams are needed. AD Club donates to Food Bank

Mike Riddle (left), AAF-Dothan president, presented a check to Julie Gonzalez (right), Special Projects Coordinator with the Wiregrass Area Food Bank. Each month, tickets are sold for a door prize donated by one of the board members. The proceeds are donated to the Food Bank.
